As a 80’s Baby I must admit that my favorite pair of kicks were my ‘High Tops’, better known as Reebok Freestyle’s. Some also referred to these classic’s as “54-11s” as they cost $54.11 back in the good ol’ days.
Reebok Freestyle’s were introduced back in 82’ and designed for aerobic exercise. Yet the shoe quickly crashed into the mainstream athletic and fashion scene becoming one of the most popular athletic shoes of all time. In 84’ the shoe actually accounted for more than half of the Reebok sales. More than a shoe the High Top/54-11s/Freestyle’s became a fashion icon and still is today among those with a great appreciation for the classics.
